These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Splitide (“the app”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or otherwise using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. What Splitide is
Splitide is a convenience tool that helps groups record shared trip and holiday expenses and see a suggested breakdown of who owes whom. Splitide is not a bank, payment processor, money-transfer service, or accounting or financial adviser. The app does not hold, move, or transfer any money. Any actual payments between members happen entirely outside the app, and it is up to you and the people you share a trip with to make and verify them.
2. Accuracy of calculations
Rounding, currency conversion (using third-party exchange rates), edits, deletions, and how members choose to split costs can all affect the numbers. You agree that you will independently verify any amount that matters to you, and that we are not liable for decisions you make based on figures shown in the app.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information (such as your name and email) and to keep it up to date. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use Splitide.
4. Your content and conduct
You keep ownership of the trip, member, and payment information you enter (“your content”). You grant us the limited right to store and process it solely to operate the app for you and the people you invite. You agree not to use Splitide to break the law, infringe others’ rights, upload harmful or offensive content, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or disrupt the service. You are responsible for the people you invite to a trip and for what they can see.
5. Service “as is”
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that data will never be lost. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app - including any reliance on amounts, splits, or balances it displays. To the extent we are found liable despite the above, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us to use the app in the twelve months before the claim (which, for a free app, is zero) or, where required by law, the minimum amount permitted. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
7. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the app, your content, or your breach of these Terms.
8. Third-party services
Splitide relies on third-party infrastructure, including Google Firebase (authentication and data storage) and a public exchange-rate provider for currency conversion. Your use of the app may also be subject to those providers’ terms. We are not responsible for third-party services’ availability or accuracy.
9. Termination
You may stop using Splitide and delete your account at any time from the in-app account menu. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the app. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including accuracy disclaimers, warranty disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity) will continue to apply.
10. Changes
We may update the app and these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date. Continuing to use the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Serbia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of Serbia, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law gives you other rights.
